Dec 2007 " A Passion to get involved "

On my trip to Asia I stopped by an orphanage in Northern Thailand.  I had an opportunity to meet with Neil and Diane Gilbert, who oversee the Home of Hope.  They have one of the greatest jobs in the world; loving and caring for children that are at risk.  The Home of Hope cares for 19 children.  These precious children are very joyful and full of spirit.  It is easy to fall in love with these children and recognize that the Gilberts do an excellent job in mentoring these young people.

After Thanksgiving I am out of here…

I will be heading back to Asia!! Where I will be again, involving myself with a few projects concerning children outreach and orphan care.  This will be great. I love getting involved!!!  

Last year I was in an Orphanage in Myanmar. What? Where? Myanmar (also known as Burma). This very impoverished Asian country is located next to Thailand and China. These beautiful orphans captured my heart. Who would not want to lie, cheat, and steal to help these precious children? Although it is tempting to do so, I figure I will just have to be more creative and come up with many ways to sell you more Haken Products (I am giving you and advanced warning). I am going to work much harder to entice you to buy more Haken Products, since I am now on a mission to “save the world”. Ok, I do realize “saving the world” sounds extreme and lofty, but this in many ways will give me a lifelong challenge (I have nothing better to do). I guess I should rephrase that statement to be a little more realistic, “These children will become my world”.  Making these children a part of my world, will consist of me living my life in a way that will ultimately bless these children. We “HAKEN” will do our part to invest in projects that will give educational opportunities and expanding care for more Children at Risk. Of course, I know there are some of you out there thinking, “I really don’t want to buy anything from you Mr. Haken”, and I am fine with that. I on the other hand, hope you are thinking, “I also want to get involved helping you help these children, how can I help?” Well, since you asked….

Here is how you can help.  Send me money (just kidding). Well, that might work, but I have a better idea.  I have set up a fund though my local church to raise support for orphans in Asia .  The objective is to invest in education and expanding care for children at risk in Asia.
